1. Because of a great love, one is courageous…

    Comment

Do not look only at yourself, and you will see much. Do not justify yourself, and you will be distinguished. Do not brag, and you will have merit. Do not be prideful, and your work will endure. ~Lao Tzu

  2. Over the years…

    Comment

    If I cannot forgive myself
    For all the blunders
    That I have made
    Over the years,
    Then how can I proceed?
    How can I ever
    Dream perfection-dreams?
    Move, I must, forward.
    Fly, I must, upward.
    Dive, I must, inward,
    To be once more
    What I truly am
    And shall forever remain.

    ~Sri Chinmoy

  3. Forgiveness…

    Comment

    The age-old discovery—
    Forgiveness, forgiveness, forgiveness—
    Is the only way
    To real happiness.

    ~ Sri Chinmoy

  4. Until the mud settles

    Comment

Who can wait quietly until the mud settles? Who can remain still until the moment of action? ~ Lao Tzu

  5. If you realize that you have enough

    Comment

Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength; mastering yourself is true power. If you realize that you have enough, you are truly rich. ~ Tao Te Ching

  6. Do not expect praise or reward…

    Comment

We practice to learn how to let go, not how to increase our holding on to things. Enlightenment appears when you stop wanting anything.  ~Ajahn Chah

  7. Read yourself, not books

    Comment

Read yourself, not books. Truth isn’t outside, that’s only memory, not wisdom. Memory without wisdom is like an empty thermos bottle – if you don’t fill it, it’s useless. ~Ajahn Chah

  8. Harmonize with actuality

    Comment

To define Buddhism without a lot of words and phrases, we can simply say, ‘Don’t cling or hold on to anything. Harmonize with actuality, with things as they are. ~Ajahn Chah

  9. If we want to really see the Buddha

    Comment

If we want to really see the Buddha, we should observe his virtuous qualities. Whatever he taught, we should practise it. Only bowing to him is not enough. We need to renounce, give up, stop, so that we may see the Buddha. ~Ajahn Chah

  10. When you truly feel this equal love for all

    Comment

When you truly feel this equal love for all, when your heart has expanded so much that it embraces the whole of creation, you will certainly not feel like giving up this or that. You will simply drop off from secular life as a ripe fruit drops from the branch of a tree. You will feel that the whole world is your home. ~ Ramana Maharshi

Shantidevas’ Bodhisattva vows

My reflection

Should anyone wish to ridicule me and make me an object of jest and scorn why should I possibly care if I have dedicated myself to others?

Let them do as they wish with me so long as it does not harm them. May no one who encounters me ever have an insignificant contact.

Regardless whether those whom I meet respond towards me with anger or faith, may the mere fact of our meeting contribute to the fulfilment of their wishes.

May the slander, harm and all forms of abuse that anyone should direct towards me act as a cause of their enlightenment.

As a solid rock is not shaken by the wind, so the wise are not shaken by blame and praise. As a deep lake is clear and calm, so the wise become tranquil after they listened to the truth…

Good people walk on regardless of what happens to them. Good people do not babble on about their desires. Whether touched by happiness or by sorrow, the wise never appear elated or depressed. ~The Dhammapada

Beauty in nature

A beautiful object has no intrinsic quality that is good for the mind, nor an ugly object any intrinsic power to harm it. Beautiful and ugly are just projections of the mind. The ability to cause happiness or suffering is not a property of the outer object itself. For example, the sight of a particular individual can cause happiness to one person and suffering to another. It is the mind that attributes such qualities to the perceived object. — Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche

Nature is loved by what is best in us. The sky, the mountain, the tree, the animal, give us a delight in and for themselves. — Ralph Waldo Emerson

Our journey for peace
begins today and every day.
Each step is a prayer,
Each step is a meditation,
Each step will build a bridge.
