  2. Boy on Father's Day visit, 5 others, die in fire

    26

    What a sad story…
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — A teenager on a Father's Day visit to Newark to honor his deceased dad died, along with his mother and four others, when a fast-moving fire ripped through a three-story home early Sunday, authorities and the boy's grandmother said.

The blaze broke out at the single-family residence about 4 a.m. and soon spread to another home, the Essex County Prosecutor's office said. Both structures were destroyed.

Iris Sydney, of neighboring Irvington, stood outside the burned-out residence later Sunday, clutching a framed studio portrait of her grandson and his mother. They were supposed to meet her for a Father's Day service at the Solid Rock church, where his father attended services before he died two years ago in a bicycle accident in Newark, she told The Associated Press. But they never showed up. Video and full story

  3. Life Lessons

    Comment

May all Fathers in the world live in Peace and Happiness.
It feels warmer and safer to have a Father home.
I do not need a wealthy father, but a father with beautiful Heart…

You may have thought I didn’t see,
    Or that I hadn’t heard,
Life lessons that you taught to me,
    But I got every word.
Perhaps you thought I missed it all,
    And that we’d grow apart,
But Dad, I picked up everything,
    It’s written on my heart.
Without you, Dad, I wouldn’t be
    The person I am today;
    You built a strong foundation
    No one can take away…

Mercedes-Benz MLCMercedes-Benz is back testing its new MLC, the lifted, ‘four-door coupe’ crossover that will challenge the BMW X6 for the title of least utile utility vehicle. We’ve already shown you exterior images, along with a peek at the AMG variant and now, we have our first look at the new Benz’s cabin.

The interior looks like pretty standard fare for Mercedes. The center console sports a similar setup for the COMAND infotainment system as the new C-Class, while we can spot what looks like a sort of terrain management system closer to the passenger’s side.

The centre stack, meanwhile, looks similar to what we’ve seen on other Mercedes products. The dash, meanwhile, features a wide band of brushed aluminum with a leather-lined dash. The steering wheel also looks borrowed from the C-Class.

On the outside, the camo is slightly lighter, offering up more detail around the fascia, where we can see the intakes underneath what look like GLA-inspired headlights. Overall, the look remains largely in line with the Concept Coupe SUV from the Beijing Motor Show.

  8. Flight Attendant Forces Child To Urinate In Seat

    Comment
A mother says her 3-year-old daughter was forced to urinate in her seat
because a JetBlue flight attendant would not let her use the bathroom.

The Daily Caller, June 15, 2014

A grumpy flight attendant demonstrated her lack of parenting skills when she forced a child to urinate in her seat.

Jennifer Deveraux was travelling with her two daughters when the exceptional customer service occurred on a JetBlue flight. Flight 518 was delayed on the tarmac at John F. Kennedy International Airport in N.Y. on Monday, waiting to fly to Boston, CBS Boston reports.

One of Deveraux’s daughters, Summers, needed to use the bathroom, and began to cry. When her mother tried to help her to the bathroom, a flight attendant refused to let them stand up, forcing the child to urinate on herself and the seat.

“She snapped at me, ‘No sit down,’” Deveraux said.

Deveraux attempted to stand up again to clean up the mess, and the
flight attendant yelled at her a second time. “And I said, ‘please give
me a break. My daughter had an accident because you wouldn’t let me take
her to the bathroom. After I clean it up I will sit down.’ She turned
around and reported it to the pilot,” Deveraux said.

The pilot then turned the plane around and took it back to the gate, announcing over the intercom that there was a non-compliant passenger on board, and they would be brought to security.

Thankfully, an off-duty pilot sitting two seats in front of Deveraux realized how ridiculous the situation was and convinced the crew to let her stay.

Deveraux wrote to JetBlue to inform them of the phenomenal service. “I want an apology and I don’t want them to do this to any other family. I want this behavior to be stopped,” she said.

“It wasn’t about bad customer service at that point, it was about bad human decency. My daughter was sitting in a pool of urine and I couldn’t do anything about it,” Deveraux said. “And as a mom it just broke my heart.”

JetBlue released a statement saying they will reach out directly to Deveraux. The airline also replied to a tweet asking about the incident.

Shantidevas’ Bodhisattva vows

My reflection

Should anyone wish to ridicule me and make me an object of jest and scorn why should I possibly care if I have dedicated myself to others?

Let them do as they wish with me so long as it does not harm them. May no one who encounters me ever have an insignificant contact.

Regardless whether those whom I meet respond towards me with anger or faith, may the mere fact of our meeting contribute to the fulfilment of their wishes.

May the slander, harm and all forms of abuse that anyone should direct towards me act as a cause of their enlightenment.

As a solid rock is not shaken by the wind, so the wise are not shaken by blame and praise. As a deep lake is clear and calm, so the wise become tranquil after they listened to the truth…

Good people walk on regardless of what happens to them. Good people do not babble on about their desires. Whether touched by happiness or by sorrow, the wise never appear elated or depressed. ~The Dhammapada

Beauty in nature

A beautiful object has no intrinsic quality that is good for the mind, nor an ugly object any intrinsic power to harm it. Beautiful and ugly are just projections of the mind. The ability to cause happiness or suffering is not a property of the outer object itself. For example, the sight of a particular individual can cause happiness to one person and suffering to another. It is the mind that attributes such qualities to the perceived object. — Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche

Nature is loved by what is best in us. The sky, the mountain, the tree, the animal, give us a delight in and for themselves. — Ralph Waldo Emerson

Our journey for peace

Each step is a prayer,
Each step is a meditation,
Each step will build a bridge.
