Angulimala as a Holy Man, a Pure Buddhist monk

He’s being chased by the villagers
Ever since I was a young girl, I cried over this story for so many years. This is one of the most powerful stories in Buddhism, that inspired me to become a Buddhist nun at a very young age. Angulimala is no longer a murderer or a robber. He’s already become a holy monk, an arahant, the one who has already destroyed birth and death. He has destroyed the taints, lived the holy life, done what had to be done, laid down the burden, reached the ultimate goal, destroyed the fetters and become completely free, liberated through final knowledge’

All to often this happens in many places and many religions. Just like then they do it now because people have lost their way and are quick to judge before getting to know the people.  🙁

I think to reach inner secret of the story one needs to spend many precious years of his life with them.

I find this story 2 b inspiring & show th@ we can move past our mistakes. Is it blievd th@ during an incarnation @ sum point thru the souls journey we must overcome our own vices, or r there peopl who av had all their previous incarnations wit no vices or trouble making. An easier way 2 ask is, 4 those who av had every life pretty easy, do they need 2 experience hardship or go thru sum trial in order 2 achieve spiritual growth 🙂

Every saint, monk, reformer have similar stories. They had special powers to change the world according to the thoughts and faith. They were great people.

My Reflection

This site is a tribute to Buddhism. Buddhism has given me a tremendous inspiration to be who and where I am today. Although I came to America at a very young age, however, I never once forget who I am and where I came from. One thing I know for sure is I was born as a Buddhist, live as a Buddhist and will leave this earth as a Buddhist. I do not believe in superstition. I only believe in karma.

Tipitaka: The pali canon (Readings in Theravada Buddhism). A vast body of literature in English translation the texts add up to several thousand printed pages. Most -- but not all -- of the Canon has already been published in English over the years. Although only a small fraction of these texts are available here at Access to Insight, this collection can nonetheless be a very good place to start.
